We are proud to share our latest publication in the Journal of Power Sources titled
"In situ measurement and modeling of internal thermal runaway propagation within lithium-ion cells under local overheating conditions."
In this study, we measured the internal temperature during the thermal runaway of lithium-ion cells in situ with built-in thermocouples at different positions within the electrode-separator stack. The results reveal the significant influence of temperature gradients on the initiation of thermal runaway and show that a simplified model is sufficient to simulate this observed behavior.
The findings deepen the understanding of thermal runaway and contribute to the development of safer and more reliable lithium-ion batteries.
