Surface interactions
Interfacial interactions occur between the carrier materials among themselves and the environment containing in the target molecule. The former needs to be understood for a process implementation in order to be able to develop easily scalable and robust processes. A selective interaction of the target molecule with the carrier substance under given process parameters determines the achievable purity of the product and therefore the quality of the separation method. In view of the high productivity of the processes, dynamic binding capacities play an important role, which are essentially determined by large effective specific surfaces of the carrier material.
