The 20th International PhD Seminar on Chromatographic Separation Science
The SoCSS 2025 will be hosted by Technical University of Munich.
The seminar will take place from 25.06.2025 until 27.06.2025.
SoCSS is a seminar dedicated to presenting and discussing research in chromatography and related techniques. Participants will have the chance to showcase their work and expand their professional networks. The event is expected to draw young researchers from the relevant field globally. Engaging with peers and the established network will benefit their future growth as emerging experts.
The presentations will address a diverse array of subjects related to innovative research, new technologies, and developing areas within the following fields:
- Fundamentals of chromatography / Process engineering
- Process development, intensification and scale-up
- High-throughput (HTP) approaches and solutions
- Continuous processing
- Computational methods
- Chromatography modeling, simulation and optimization
- Model-based process design and control
- Machine learning
- Alternative separation methods and modifications
- Liquid-liquid chromatography (LLC)
- 3D printed stationary phases
- Novel separation/interaction techniques
- Analytical techniques
- Method development
- Process analytical technology (PAT)
- Magnetic separation
- Analytical tool
- Process development
- Digitalization and modeling
Call for abstracts and Registration
Each PhD candidate is welcome to deliver a presentation on their work, which will include approximately 15 minutes for the talk followed by 5 minutes for questions and discussion. The organizing committee encourages all participants to submit an abstract for a conference presentation.
SoCSS in the past
The seminar, established in 2001 by Prof. Henner Schmidt-Traub, Prof. Klaus Unger, and Dr. Reinhard Ditz, was originally titled the "PhD Seminar Preparative Chromatography." Over time, with the dedicated efforts of Prof. Massimo Morbidelli and Prof. Andreas Seidel-Morgenstern, it evolved and was renamed the International PhD Seminar on Chromatographic Separation Science (SoCSS). Today, the seminar is held annually at various locations across Europe
- University of Dortmund
- Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz
- Merck KGaA, Darmstadt
- ETH Zurich
- MPI Magdeburg
- LTH Lund
