Process development for preparative purification of macromolecules by high-gradient magnetic separation
As an alternative to conventional techniques in biotechnological downstream processing, a robust process for magnetic purification of macromolecules (e.g. antibodies) is to be developed on a pilot scale. Hereby, high-gradient magnetic separation (HGMS) is used in combination with cost-effective magnetic nanoparticle adsorbents. Peptide tags enable easy and specific functionalization of the particles for selective binding of the target molecule.
