V2G@CoSES
Battery energy storage can enable the flexibility that power systems require under high penetration of distributed energy resources. Vehicle-to-grid (V2G) takes one-step further by intelligently taking advantage of an already available and ever-growing asset; a multitude of electric vehicles connected to the grid. Nevertheless for V2G to be successfully implemented, it is also important to consider factors such as the impact on the battery degradation, the implications of the energy storage system efficiency and overall the influence on the power grid.
The objective of this TUM-internal research project, V2G@CoSES, is to develop strategies that take advantage of V2G for an optimal grid operation, while also assessing the influence on the battery system: efficiency and ageing. Moreover, the project aims to validate the modeled simulations in a real environment through power-hardware-in-the-loop experiments in the CoSES laboratory. This research initiative profits from a strong collaboration between the Institute for Electrical Energy Storage Technology and the Munich School of Engineering.
