Project ReVISEDBatt
The aim of the project is to gain deep insight into the influence of mechanical stresses (periodic, dynamic and quasistatic) on lithium-ion battery aging and safety for all common battery formats (cylindric, prismatic pouch-type and hardcase-type). The insights on the cell level serve as a basis for the investigation of battery modules. Hereby, the effects of combined electrochemical-mechanical aging will be elucidated and guidance for cell/module improvement and usage can be deduced. The Technical University of Munich (TUM) is investigating vibrational, resonant and shock loads and their influence on the safety and life span of cells and cell compounds. As a result, detection methods are identified and tested as well as the connection joints of the cell compounds are optimized.
