INTELLIGENT – Interoperable Tools for Network-Aware, Ledger-Based Local Energy Sharing and Flexibility Management Leveraging User Engagement – aims to advance peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading technology, making it more accessible, secure, and efficient. Ultimately, this brings economic and environmental benefits for citizens, while supporting grid operators to better address grid stability and congestion management. It will leverage and extend GSY DEX as an open-source P2P exchange software and demonstrate it in four diverse EU communities. INTELLIGENT’s tools are open source, employs blockchain technology, and is protocol and regulation-agnostic. Furthermore, the platform is customizable for specific market requirements and enables grid-aware, secure, and automated exchange.
A crucial component in this ecosystem is empowering prosumers to take control of their energy assets for the purpose of trading in local energy markets and offering flexibility services to support grid resilience. TUM EMT takes a leading role in this development of prosumer tooling by employing the latest methods from modeling, simulation, optimization/control, machine learning, and software engineering for buildings and communities. Leveraging forecasts for assets, market conditions, and user behaviour, we optimize and operate energy assets, estimate flexibility, and participate in energy and flexibility markets on behalf of users.
