SmartUP - Re-energize your home

Integration of renewable energies and domestic micro co-generation represent a technical and economical challenge. Yet, both challenges are mainly triggered by the mismatch between the demand and the fluctuating energy source. Consequently, a demand side management (DSM) strategy has to be applied to match between the energy supply and demand. The current approach to apply an automated DSM is through an Energy Management System (EMS).

Through this project, the students will be introduced to the energy monitoring and management systems. Exposing the students to these systems will enhance their awareness about the current energy trends and challenges, increase their capabilities in analyzing energy consumption, and provides a hands-on experience in installing and designing energy monitoring and management systems.

Goal: Development of a Smart Energy Building Lab through using Open Source technologies, software and component.
