An experience for the whole family was the open day of KoNaRo - Competence Center for Renewable Resources - on Sunday (17.06.2018). Everything revolved around renewable energies and renewable raw materials. At Schulgasse 18, visitors were able to take a look behind the scenes at the research facility, which is of major importance throughout Germany, and to get advice from the experts on site. The joint appearance of all three pillars of the competence centre, the TUM Campus Straubing, the Technology and Funding Centre and CARMEN was very nice. Employees, scientists and many committed students provided children and adults with a lot of heart blood and information. All under the motto of showing "sustainable alternatives". The open day took place as a special event on the occasion of the anniversary "800 years Neustadt Straubing" in cooperation with the city of Straubing.
The team of the chair Regenerative Energy Systems (RES) participated with different actions at the open day. Ice cream was produced using liquid nitrogen (Jeremias Weinrich, Katharina Koch), Bastian Alt and Wolfgang Waldmüller used foam models to explain a fluidised bed reactor in the pilot plant, dust separation was demonstrated in a cyclone and Bernhard Huber held a workshop on energy management. In the forum additionally a presentation ran to research and teachings at the TUM Campus Straubing, with the emphasis on the energetic use , arranged by Gert Tilk.
