Further institutes
Industrial biotechnology considers the entire process from single cell to final product, and therefore represents an interdisciplinary field of research. In the facultity of Mechanical Engineering, Prof. Weuster-Botz (Biochemical Engineering) , Prof. Berensmeier (Bioseparation Engineering) and Prof. Brück (Werner Siemens-Chair of Synthetic Biotechnology (WSSB)) are also activite in this field or research.
Further cooperation is established in the TUM Research Center for Industrial Biotechnology; an institution which is associated with academic members (Professors) of three faculties of Technische Universität München. The main technical facility is the TUM Pilot Plant for Industrial Biotechnology located in Garching near Munich (TUM Research Center for Industrial Biotechnology).
